About the Role
Practical QMS LLC is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Supplier Quality Engineer for a temporary, contract position to be placed at one of our customer's sites. The role involves extensive work with suppliers to ensure the highest levels of quality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards and customer-specific requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP),Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), with a proven track record of managing supplier quality in a manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading quality initiatives, driving continuous improvement with suppliers, and ensuring that all products meet or exceed the customer’s quality expectations. This role will require close collaboration with both the customer’s quality and engineering teams, and Practical QMS leadership, to achieve project goals and deliver exceptional quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP):
APQP Process Management:
Oversee the APQP process from concept to production, ensuring all deliverables are met in a timely manner and in accordance with customer and industry standards.
Facilitate cross-functional teams to develop and review key APQP documents, including Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Work Instructions.
Provide regular updates and reports on the status of APQP activities to both Practical QMS LLC and the customer’s project management team.

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field is required.
Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green Belt, or Black Belt are highly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier quality engineering, preferably within the automotive, aerospace, medical device or manufacturing industries.
Extensive experience with APQP and PPAP processes is required.
Strong background in Six Sigma methodologies, with proven experience in leading or participating in Six Sigma projects.
Skills:
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with suppliers, internal teams, and customer stakeholders.
Proficiency in quality management software, statistical analysis tools, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
