About the Role

Practical QMS is seeking an experienced Software Applications Developer specializing in creating applications that integrate with hospital Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in developing healthcare applications, ensuring cybersecurity, and conducting software testing and validation. This role involves extensive travel (up to 75%) to collaborate with healthcare facilities, implement solutions, and ensure robust data integration with CMS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Development: Design, develop, and implement software applications that integrate seamlessly with hospital EMR systems, ensuring compliance with CMS regulatory requirements for data uploads. Ensure applications are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.


  • Cybersecurity: Implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive healthcare data, conducting regular security assessments and updates to ensure data integrity and confidentiality. Collaborate with the IT security team to address vulnerabilities and enhance security protocols.


  • Software Testing and Validation: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate software functionality and performance, conducting unit, integration, system, and acceptance testing. Identify and resolve software defects and issues promptly.


  • Data Integration and Upload: Ensure seamless integration of applications with hospital EMR systems for accurate data exchange, developing and maintaining features for uploading healthcare data to CMS. Monitor and troubleshoot data integration issues to ensure data accuracy and compliance.


  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with healthcare providers, administrators, and other stakeholders to understand their software needs and requirements, presenting findings and recommendations to ensure clarity and understanding. Foster strong relationships with clients, ensuring their software needs are met and conducting training sessions for end-users on new applications and features.


  • Travel: Travel to various healthcare facilities to implement software solutions and provide training, ensuring consistent communication and follow-up with stakeholders during and after site visits. Adapt to different healthcare environments and work effectively with diverse teams.


  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek to improve software applications and processes based on user feedback and technological advancements. Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to enhance the quality and functionality of software solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, specifically in healthcare applications.


  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or similar.


  • Strong understanding of EMR systems and healthcare data standards.


  • Experience with API development and integration.


  • Knowledge of HL7, FHIR, and other healthcare data exchange standards.


  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for healthcare data, including HIPAA.


  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.


  • Experience with cybersecurity measures and best practices.


  • Proficiency in software testing and validation processes.


  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
